On May 9, 2020, a disturbing incident occurred in Kolwa location, Nyando sub-county, Nyanza. Angeline Adongo, 67, allegedly hit her 13-year-old grandson with a wooden rod after spotting him herding cattle in her compound while she was fetching firewood.
The prosecution charged that Adongo assaulted the boy, causing injuries to his upper limbs and left ear. The boy was rushed to the hospital after the ordeal and reported the beating to his mother, leading to Adongo's arrest.
Adongo denied the charges and was released on Sh2,000 cash bail. Her case will be heard on August 5, 2020.
