Just two weeks after Omar Lali's release, the court has extended his case for another 30 days to allow for the conclusion of police investigations into Tecra Muigai's death.

On June 10, Lamu principal magistrate Allan Temba, Omar's lawyer Yusuf Aboubakar, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) agreed to the extension during a live video link session.

Despite the extension, Omar Lali has been spared from detention during the 30-day period.

DCI boss George Kinoti had previously indicated that there was evidence to prove Tecra's death was murder, citing an autopsy report that revealed she succumbed to injuries sustained on the left side of her head.

On May 27, Omar Lali was released on a KSh 300,000 bond and two sureties after 21 days in detention, amidst ongoing police investigations.

His release came after the Lamu native was arrested on May 5 and held in detention for 21 days, with police terming the detention as 'comprehensive investigations' that did not need interference.

On May 26, exactly 21 days after his arrest, the judge found no reason to detain him further.
