Former Kenyan international Crispin 'Alphy' Olando has been held in a United States prison since March 18, 2020, after being arrested over his immigration documentation.
Olando, a former midfielder, moved to the US in 2013 and played for several lower-tier clubs after being dropped by Tusker FC in 2011, where he won back-to-back league titles.
According to Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo, Olando's former coach at Tusker FC, Odipo, a lecturer at the Shorter University in Georgia, is leading the aid to have Olando released.
"I have been in contact with Odipo and he tells me they are working to get him released because he has been held for three months now," Omollo said.
Omollo added that Olando's detention is due to his immigration papers not being in order, but hopes that the issue will be resolved soon.
As reported by Diasporamessenger.com on June 11, 2020, Olando is staring at likely deportation unless he manages to secure crucial documents that will allow him to continue his stay in the country as an immigrant.
