Published on June 11, 2020, a devastating attack by bandits in northern Nigeria left at least 99 people dead in Borno and Katsina states.
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum confirmed that 81 people were killed in Faduma Koloram village, Gubio local government area, with 13 others injured as they attempted to flee.
Mr Zulum suggested that the bandits may be the same group responsible for an earlier attack on Gajiram local government area.
He emphasized the need for the government to support efforts to defeat the insurgents, stating, 'That requires a lot of support from the government.'
Meanwhile, in Katsina State, 18 people were killed in Kadisau village, Faskari Local Government Area, with 26 others injured in the confrontation.
The Federal Government has condoled with the families of the victims, with Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar-Faruk, assuring that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
Since the launch of Operation Katsina on May 14, soldiers have killed 392 bandits in the area.
