On June 11, 2020, UAP Old Mutual Faulu Foundation and Gertrude's Hospital Foundation announced a collaborative effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in Nairobi.

The joint initiative aims to provide free COVID-19 testing for vulnerable children and personal protective equipment to healthcare workers in urban slum areas where healthcare support is desperately needed.

Speaking during the announcement, UAP Old Mutual Group CEO Arthur Oginga emphasized the importance of continued corporate support in the fight against the pandemic.

"We are glad to be announcing yet another initiative as UAP Old Mutual Group towards combating this pandemic," Oginga said. "We do realize that there are vulnerable and underprivileged communities in Nairobi, and we are certain that this will go a long way into supporting them."

Gertrude's Children's Hospital CEO Dr. Robert Nyarango highlighted the need for continued support to frontline workers and vulnerable communities.

"Health care workers around the country are the heroes in this fight against Covid-19," Dr. Nyarango said. "While there has been a marked increase in the number of cases in the country, we believe that with such initiatives as what we are launching with UAP Old Mutual Group here today, the infection will be brought under control."
