As of the latest count, the US has recorded 2,000,464 confirmed infections, with more than 112,900 people losing their lives to the virus.
Despite the country's efforts to contain the spread, the US continues to report around 20,000 new cases of Covid-19 every day, with some regions experiencing a surge in hospitalizations.
In Texas and North Carolina, for instance, the number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized has increased in the past month.
With a high testing rate of half a million tests performed daily, the US is leading the world in screening per capita.
According to a forecast by researchers at the University of Massachusetts, the number of Covid-19 deaths in the US is expected to approach 130,000 by July 4, Independence Day.
