On June 11, 2020, Safaricom announced that its Chief Financial Officer, Sateesh Kamath, would be leaving the company to take up a new role at Vodafone Business, effective July 1, 2020.
As CFO of Vodafone Business, Sateesh will report to Vinod Kumar, the current CEO of Vodafone Business, and will also become a member of the Vodafone Group Finance Leadership Team.
Before joining Safaricom in August 2016, Sateesh served as the CFO of Vodacom Tanzania Ltd.
During his four-year tenure at Safaricom, Sateesh played a key role in several significant initiatives, including the completion of the acquisition of M-PESA Joint Venture from Vodafone and the purchase of critical spectrum.
He is credited with helping to build Safaricom's shareholders' value by 50% to KES1.2 trillion and improving business performance through Fit for Future Initiatives, adding 6 percentage points on EBIT margin.
