On June 10, 2020, Safaricom announced that its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Sateesh Kamath, would be leaving the company to join Vodafone Business as its new CFO, effective July 1.

According to Safaricom, Kamath will be reporting to Vinod Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Business, and will become a member of the Vodafone Group Finance Leadership Team.

Kamath joined Safaricom PLC as CFO and Executive Director on the board four years ago, coming from Vodacom Tanzania, where he held a similar position.

During his tenure at Safaricom, Kamath played a key role in several significant achievements, including helping to build Safaricom shareholders' value by 50% to Sh1.2 trillion and improving business performance through Fit for Future Initiatives, which added 6 percentage points on EBIT margin.

He also assumed broader responsibilities in navigating the company through the phase when Bob Collymore was on medical leave and through transitions thereafter.

As he leaves Safaricom, Kamath will be remembered for building a reputation as an outstanding finance expert in the region, a leader, and a mentor, qualities that the company has greatly benefitted from.
