On June 10th, 2020, Athletics Kenya Deputy Chairman Paul Mutwii announced that the Nairobi leg of the World Athletics Intercontinental Tour, scheduled for September 26th, would proceed as planned.

The tour, which was initially set for May 2nd but was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns, will feature events such as the 200m, 3000m steeplechase, discus, hammer, and triple jump.

These events were removed from the Diamond League prime time in the inaugural 2020 season.

Meanwhile, Athletics Kenya officials confirmed that the Maurie Plant inaugural race, set for Tuesday at Nyayo National Stadium, would go ahead as scheduled.

The race is held in memory of Maurie Plant, an Australian athletics figure who passed away in January.
