As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ravage the global economy, Boeing's aviation industry is facing unprecedented challenges. In May 2020, the company delivered a mere 4 jets, a staggering 87% less than its deliveries in May 2019.

According to reports, Boeing's May deliveries included two 777 freighters, one 737 NG-based aircraft for the U.S. military, and one 767 freighter. Despite this, the company received only 9 new orders for wide-body planes.

However, the news was not all bleak. Amazon Air has announced plans to lease 12 Boeing 767 jets, which have been converted to cargo from Air Transport Services Group (ATSG). One of the leased jets has already joined operations in May, with the remaining 11 expected to be delivered in 2021.

Boeing's struggles are not limited to its deliveries. The company has also announced close to 12,000 job cuts amid the pandemic, which has caused a significant dip in aviation industry revenues. The company's production of the 737 Max planes has resumed on a small scale, but the future remains uncertain.

Boeing's May deliveries marked the company's lowest monthly deliveries in six decades, a stark contrast to its performance in previous years. The company's struggles are a testament to the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global economy.
