On June 10, 2020, Kenya's Health Ministry rolled out home care guidelines for Covid-19 patients, marking a shift in the country's approach to managing the disease.
According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman, it has become unsustainable to isolate all Covid-19 cases in hospitals, given the high number of asymptomatic cases.
Dr. Aman noted that 78 percent of positive cases in Kenya are asymptomatic and can be effectively managed at home.
During his daily coronavirus briefing, Dr. Aman announced that 105 new cases had been reported, bringing the total number of cases to 3,094 since the disease was first detected in the country on March 13.
The new cases comprised 77 males and 28 females, with 781 Covid-19 patients currently admitted to public hospitals across the county, seven of whom were in critical condition.
