Published on June 10, 2020, Safaricom announced the appointment of Sateesh Kamath as the Chief Financial Officer of Vodafone Business.
Safaricom Chief Executive Peter Ndegwa praised Kamath's four-year tenure, saying he built a reputation as an outstanding finance expert in the region, a leader, and a mentor.
During his time at Safaricom, Kamath played a key role in several significant achievements, including helping to build Safaricom's shareholders' value by 50% to Ksh1.2 trillion and improving business performance through Fit for Future Initiatives.
He also assumed broader responsibilities in navigating the company through the phase when Bob Collymore was on medical leave and through transitions thereafter.
As CFO of Vodafone Business, Kamath will report to Vinod Kumar, Chief Executive Officer Vodafone Business, and become a member of the Vodafone Group Finance Leadership Team.
Before joining Safaricom in 2016, Kamath held a similar position at Vodacom Tanzania Ltd.
