Published on June 10, 2020, Beyoncé Knowles has been a trailblazer for Black representation in the entertainment industry.

As a renowned artist, she has used her platform to create opportunities for underrepresented groups to thrive. In a video shared on her Instagram, Beyoncé spoke about the challenges she faced in making a place for herself and others in the industry.

“Not enough Black women had a seat at the table so I had to go and chop that wood and build my own table,” she said.

Her efforts have been instrumental in providing a platform for Black creatives and business people to showcase their talents. This aligns with the Black Lives Matter movement, which has gained momentum worldwide, calling for justice and equal treatment of all races.

It's inspiring to see Beyoncé working hard to 'make it' while bringing others along and ensuring they too make it. She joins thousands of creatives who have taken to social media to highlight Black-owned businesses and individuals, which many have reported, don't get enough clout and yet they do so much.

“One of the main purposes of my art for many years has been dedicated to showing the beauty of Black people...and the value of Black lives.”

For these reasons and many others, we celebrate Beyoncé today.
