Safaricom CFO Sateesh Kamath has been appointed to a new role, effective July 1, 2020. He will be taking up the position of Chief Financial Officer at Vodafone Business.
As part of his new role, Kamath will be reporting directly to Vinod Kumar, the CEO of Vodafone Business, and will also become a member of the Vodafone Group Finance Leadership Team.
Before joining Safaricom in August 2016, Kamath held a similar position at Vodacom Tanzania Ltd.
During his four-year tenure at Safaricom, Kamath played a key role in several significant achievements, including helping to increase the company's shareholders' value by 50% to Ksh 1.2 trillion and improving business performance through the Fit for Future Initiatives, which added 6 percentage points to the EBIT margin.
He also played a crucial role in the completion of the acquisition of M-PESA Joint Venture from Vodafone and the purchase of critical spectrum, while ensuring efficient use of the company's funds.
As a testament to his leadership and expertise, Kamath built a reputation as an outstanding finance expert in the region, a leader, and a mentor, qualities that Safaricom will deeply miss.
Safaricom will announce his successor in due time.
