On June 10, 2020, Nairobi residents breathed a sigh of relief as the normal water supply resumed after successful repair works at the Sasumua Dam-Kabete Transmission line.
The heavy rains experienced in May had destroyed the water pipeline after the dam got full beyond capacity, affecting water supply in most parts of Nairobi.
The affected areas included Kawangware, Kangemi, and part of Eastlands, where residents had to rely on relief water supplied from the Sonko Rescue Team or boreholes.
Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company managing director Nahashon Muguna confirmed that the damaged section had a length of 110 meters.
