Manchester United's friendly match against Stoke City was cancelled at the last minute after a visiting official tested positive for Covid-19.

The match was set to take place at Carrington, the club's training base, on an unspecified date.

According to reports, Stoke City manager Michael O'Neill and his team arrived at Carrington for the match, but before the game could begin, the results of their Covid-19 tests came back positive.

As a result, the match was immediately called off, and Stoke City's players were quickly escorted out of the training facility.

A Manchester United spokesperson insisted that none of the club's players came into contact with the Stoke City players, who were isolated in a separate area of the training complex.

Fortunately, the protocols in place at Manchester United's training facility prevented a potential outbreak of the virus.

The match was part of Manchester United's preparations for their upcoming season, which is set to resume in the coming days.

It's unclear whether the club will continue to host visiting teams at their training facility in the future.
