As the 2022 general elections approach, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is gearing up for a fierce battle in the Lugari constituency, where two of its aspirants have declared their interest in succeeding outgoing MP Ayub Savula. The two aspirants, Philip Etale and Nabii Nabwera, are close associates of Raila Odinga and have already begun crisscrossing the constituency in search of support.
Etale, the party's director of communications, believes that if given the party ticket, he will bag the seat that has been elusive to the party for years. He plans to jumpstart the economy of the area by setting up agricultural industries through investors and open up major roads to accelerate the socio-economic empowerment of the community.
Nabwera, on the other hand, believes that the education sector in the area needs to be invested in if the lives of the people need to improve from the standards the sector is in now. He has been in Lugari politics for long, losing the seat twice to Savula, but is confident that he has what it takes to win this time around.
