On June 9, 2020, a woman was charged with a Sh 37 million fake ministry of health tender at the Ministry of Interior.

Mercy Waihiga Wanjiku, alias Linda Mugubi Mashaka, is accused of obtaining Sh 1,625,410 from John Kiarie by pretending that a ministry of Interior tender for supply and delivery of 200 anti-lock jam pins was genuine and valid.

The accused allegedly committed the offence between November 22, 2019, and March 19, 2020, at National Police Service offices at Jogoo House A, with intent to defraud, jointly with others not before court.

Wanjiku is also accused of falsely presenting herself to ministry of Interior employees on November 25, 2019, at the National Police Service offices along Taifa Road in Nairobi, and assuming to receive three anti-lock jam pins samples from John Kiarie for the purported ministry of Interior tender.

She denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate David Ndungi and was released on a cash bail of Sh 200,000.
