Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes has made a significant impact since joining the club in January, propelling the Red Devils back to the Champions League places before the coronavirus pandemic hit.

As a result, Fernandes has been named the most valuable midfielder in world football, with a transfer value of £93.5million, according to the CIES Football Observatory.

This is £26.5m more than the £67million Manchester United paid for him in January, and puts him ahead of Chelsea's Mason Mount, who comes in second with a value of £91.4m.

Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong is third, valued at £91million.

Interestingly, Manchester United's Paul Pogba fails to make the top 20 list, and is valued at £44.9m, suggesting he has depreciated as a player since his £89m move to United in 2016.

The CIES Football Observatory considers a number of factors when estimating a player's value, including ability, age, form, contract length and recent transfers.

Manchester United will take on Tottenham in their first match back in the Premier League on June 19.
