On May 16, a heated argument between Gu Xiong and Dong Chen Pang at their home in Kilimani, Nairobi, escalated into a violent fight over a disputed bet.
According to reports, the two men were at Kingston apartments along Ngong Road when the altercation occurred, leaving Pang with serious injuries, including the loss of two teeth and a gored eye.
Despite the severity of the injuries, Pang's lawyers claim that all Chinese nationals in Nairobi are set to return home on June 16, which could potentially put the suspects out of the court's jurisdiction.
Senior principal magistrate Boaz Ombewa of Kibera law courts has ordered the two suspects to deposit their passports and other travel documents with the court.
