Kenya Records Highest COVID-19 Recoveries

On Monday, Kenya recorded its highest number of COVID-19 recoveries, with 97 patients discharged from various facilities after full recovery.

The Ministry of Health announced the discharge of the patients, bringing the total number of recoveries to 849 against 2,862 confirmed positive cases.

According to the Ministry, the new cases were reported in various counties, including Mombasa, Nairobi, Busia, and others.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman noted that the elderly and those with underlying health conditions will require to wear N95 masks in accordance with WHO recommendations.

"As the number of infections rise, we are at the same time recording a high number of recoveries. This is commendable and is proof that contracting the virus is not a death sentence," said Dr Aman.

He added that health workers dealing with COVID-19 patients, as well as patients in hospitals, who are infectious, should use the N95 masks.

Dr Aman also reiterated the need to adhere to containment measures, saying the rising numbers show that the measures are not being adhered to fully.

"The concern now is whether the increasing number of infections will challenge and even overwhelm our healthcare facilities," he said.
