Published on June 9, 2020, Mtumishi Cheruiyot, the Secretary-General of Jubilee Party's Nakuru branch, has come to the defense of President Uhuru Kenyatta against attacks by the Judiciary.

Cheruiyot argued that the country's priority should be to contain the coronavirus pandemic, rather than engaging in a war of words with the Judiciary.

"The priority for the country is to ensure we have enough medical equipment and personnel to deal with Covid-19 and the attack by Chief Justice David Maraga on the Executive was uncalled for," said Cheruiyot.

He added that the country's focus should be on providing food for the population, rather than employing judges.

"People need food now and judges can be employed after we have contained this deadly virus," Cheruiyot said.

Cheruiyot also pointed out that the curfew had led to a decrease in criminal activities across the country.

However, he urged Chief Justice Maraga to be patient, saying that the staffing issues facing the Judiciary would be addressed in due course.

"Attacking the Executive will not solve the problem facing the Judiciary, Chief Justice Maraga should be patient," Cheruiyot added.
