On June 9, 2020, Kenya's Ministry of Health reported 127 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of infections to 2,989.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman provided daily updates on coronavirus infections, stating that out of 2,247 samples collected from across the country over the last 24 hours, 124 Kenyans and three foreigners tested positive for the virus.

The highest number of infections was reported in Nairobi County with 62 cases, followed by Mombasa with 34 cases, and Busia with 14 cases.

Dr. Aman also announced that 24 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the recoveries tally to 873, and that three Covid-19 related deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of recoveries to 88.

Furthermore, Dr. Aman warned against stigmatisation of Covid-19 patients, stating that it undermines efforts aimed at testing and treating the disease.

"Stigma undermines efforts aimed at testing and treating the disease. Stigma drives the disease underground," Dr. Aman said.
