Kenya's political landscape has been witnessing a series of uprisings in the last two weeks, with the 2022 political alignment seemingly at the center of the turmoil.

On June 9, 2020, Godfrey Osotsi, a nominated Member of Parliament and former Secretary General of the Amani National Congress (ANC), announced that all management positions of the party, including that of the party leader, would remain vacant from June 15, 2020.

Osotsi, who claimed to be the founder of the party, cited the ANC party constitution, which states that the term of office for all party officials is five years. He argued that since the party was registered on June 15, 2015, the leadership positions were set to expire on June 15, 2020, and that elections should be held to fill the vacancies.

Osotsi's announcement comes days after Lugari MP Ayub Savula alleged that some members of the ODM party had confronted him, asking him to dethrone Musalia Mudavadi, the party leader. Osotsi, however, denied the allegations, accusing Savula of planning to disorganize the party leadership.

Osotsi's push for elections has sparked a crisis in the ANC party, with some members accusing him of scheming for a coup to oust Musalia Mudavadi. However, Osotsi maintained that he was a strong believer in democracy and that his actions were guided by the party constitution.
