June 9, 2020 - Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has vowed to take action against Members of County Assembly (MCAs) who are pushing for her impeachment, accusing them of being driven by personal political objectives.
Waiguru made the remarks while reacting to a motion presented at the Kirinyaga County Assembly on Tuesday, which she described as baseless and a waste of valuable time and resources.
"As I have stated before, the issues raised in the motion are baseless and a waste of valuable time that would be better spent handling the serious issues impacting the county, including the Corona crisis. Their intent is merely to bully me to achieve nefarious and personalized political objectives," Waiguru said in a press statement.
Waiguru further accused the MCAs of violating a court order that had declared the impeachment motion illegal for the time being, and warned that she would seek contempt orders against the speaker and all participating members if they proceeded with the debate.
