AFC Leopards midfielder Saad Musa is undoubtedly talented, with a crisp passing style that has caught the attention of many. His dream of playing in the Spanish La Liga is still alive, despite facing numerous challenges in his football journey.

Early this year, Musa had the opportunity to try out with Spanish fourth-tier side Velez CF, a feeder team to former La Liga side Malaga CF. Although he had to return to AFC Leopards, he remains optimistic about his chances of joining a European team.

“I would like to join any team in Europe but I prefer the LaLiga. I love the league and I think my style of play would make it easy for me to settle and enjoy football in Spain,” he said in a recent interview with AFC Leopards digital team.

Despite his admiration for Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama, who he cites as a role model, Musa is determined to forge his own path in football. He has been influenced by former Gor Mahia midfielder Zablon Otieno and Ali Breik, who he considers legends in the sport.

With a promising career ahead of him, Musa is grateful for the opportunities he has had so far, including joining the Azam Football Academy in Tanzania straight from high school. He has also played for Nairobi City Stars and Thika United before joining AFC Leopards in 2018.

“We have had very many challenges at AFC Leopards but the current management is very open and always tries their best to take care of the players despite all the hardships in the league at the moment,” he said.

Looking ahead, Musa is optimistic that AFC Leopards will soon become a force to be reckoned with in African football. With a talented young squad and the right resources, he believes the team can win the Kenyan Premier League and compete in Caf competitions regularly.

When he eventually hangs up his boots, Musa dreams of opening up a professional football academy in Kibra, where he grew up, as a way of giving back to the community.
