Garissa Town MP Aden Duale's tenure as National Assembly Majority Leader is set to come to an end after 126 MPs signed a petition to impeach him, with the petition already forwarded to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to New Jubilee Whip Emmanuel Wangwe, the President will convene another Parliamentary Group Meeting in the coming days to discuss Duale's fate.
Wangwe further stated that the President will convene the meeting after consulting with the party leader and the party, with Secretary General Raphael Tuju to communicate the meeting details.
Wangwe was accompanied by Deputy Majority Whip Maoka Maore during the press briefing.
It is worth noting that Duale is the only Tanga Tanga Member who survived last week's purge on Ruto allies in Parliament, with a section of Kieleweke Members unhappy with the decision to retain him.
MPs from Duale's North Eastern area are reportedly the ones who mobilized their colleagues to impeach him, while a section of Ruto allies who had defended Duale fell out with him after he appeared on Citizen TV and praised President Uhuru Kenyatta.
