On Saturday, June 6, 2020, Oisin Murphy made history by winning the Qipco 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket, riding Kameko to a stunning 10-1 victory.

The win marked the season's first Classic and secured the title for trainer Andrew Balding and owner Sheikh Fahad Al Thani.

Wichita, ridden by Frankie Dettori, came close but was beaten by a neck, while Pinatubo, ridden by William Buick, finished third.

Pinatubo's loss may have been a setback, but he remains a contender for the Saint James Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Meanwhile, Kameko's win has automatically made him a favourite for the Epsom Derby.

On Sunday, June 7, 2020, Love, ridden by Ryan Moore, won the Qipco 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket, beating Cloak of Spirits and Quadrilateral to the finish line.

Love's win has secured her a spot in the Oaks, and she will take precedence in the event.

Elsewhere, Honor AP, ridden by Mike Smith, won the $400,000 Run happy Santa Anita Derby, clocking the mile in 1:48:9/10 seconds.

Authentic, ridden by John Shirreff's stable, came close but was no match for Honor AP, who wheeled away smoothly to take the win.
