Three African Startups to Pitch at World Bank's Agriculture Innovation Challenge

On June 10th, three African startups, Esus Farm from South Africa, Injini from South Africa, and Satelligence from Ghana, will pitch at the World Bank's Agriculture Innovation Challenge. The event is set to take place at 10:00 EST Time.

The Agriculture Innovation Challenge is part of the World Bank's efforts to support innovators and empower entrepreneurship innovation in the agriculture sector. The challenge aims to harness new technology and data to address the agriculture and food security risks in Southern Africa.

Esus Farm, Injini, and Satelligence were selected from a pool of top innovators from around the world. The three startups will showcase their innovative solutions in agriculture and food security, including real-time microclimate and crop health data, large and smart datasets, and early warning messages based on satellite technology.

The World Bank's Agriculture Innovation Challenge is a three-day 'shark tank' event that was held at the end of April 2020. The event was designed to select the top innovators from all over the world and award honourable mention prizes to three more companies. The diversity and relevance of the proposed solutions resulted in a growing interest amongst the public to hear more about the winning teams that have a potential to make a real impact.

Other top agriculture and food security risk financing innovators and speakers at the upcoming event include Arable from the USA, CropIn from India, and Sailog from Israel.
