On June 2, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta delivered a stern warning to Deputy President William Ruto during a Jubilee party meeting at Statehouse.

According to reports, President Kenyatta used a relay race analogy to convey his message, stating that if one starts the race and hands over the baton to a teammate too early, they will be exhausted by the time the teammate completes the race.

He reportedly said, "There is no way you will win in such a race because you will already be exhausted and it’s the greatest form of disrespect to your teammate."

President Kenyatta also used the opportunity to warn lawmakers allied to Ruto that he was aware of their campaign to launch personal attacks against him and derail his agenda.
