On June 8, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced the easing of lockdown restrictions in Eastleigh, Mombasa, Kilifi, and Kwale, effective from 4 am the following day.
The decision came after infection rates slowed down in the four counties, prompting the President to lift the order declared two months prior.
However, Nairobi will remain under lockdown with restricted movement in and out of the county, as high infection rates continue to be recorded.
