Kenya Power has awarded a Sh. 112.87 million tender to supply wooden poles to Timsales, a timber firm based in Nakuru County. The company's sister firm, Rai Cement, will supply concrete poles valued at Sh. 70.13 million.

According to reports, Timsales is linked to the Rai family, which owns Rai Group Limited. However, the company is also reportedly owned by the Kenyatta family, with President Uhuru Kenyatta's brother Muhoho Kenyatta serving as a director.

Published on June 8, 2020, in the Business Daily, a report noted that the Kenyattas have been linked to Timsales Holdings, a timber firm, and Beta Healthcare, a pharmaceutical firm, among other companies.

The Kenya Power tender is part of a larger contract worth Sh. 1.198 billion for the supply of concrete and wooden poles. Timsales' award is the largest among the 13 firms that have won the tender.
