Published on June 8, 2020, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru's impeachment plot has gained momentum, sparking panic in the Kieleweke wing of Jubilee Party.
DP Ruto's attempts to muzzle MCAs have been outfoxed by the ruling party, with some MCAs storming out of a meeting with Waiguru at her residence.
The seven MCAs claimed they were being forced to append their signatures on a petition withdrawing their support for the impeachment motion, which also threatens the Kieleweke wing of Jubilee.
According to the MCAs, Kirinyaga Branch Chair of the ruling party threatened to withhold their salaries if they did not sign the petition, while Kirinyaga Jubilee Branch Chair Muriithi Kangara demanded they denounce the impeachment motion.
The impeachment plot has sparked panic in the Kieleweke wing of Jubilee, with some members fearing that Waiguru's removal would destabilize the region.
