Staff members of Development Associates for the Young (Day Africa), a community-based organization funded by LVCT Health, have reported delays and non-payment of salaries, citing management issues and communication breakdowns.
Employees claim that contracts and salary payments were initially affected by disruptions in funding, with the organization paying August salaries in full but withholding outstanding balances from July.

Staff members, who number around 40, said they had fulfilled their work responsibilities but were still waiting for the withheld funds, which were initially promised to be paid before the end of September.
Employees also allege that at the end of July, approximately 40% of salaries were deducted, with management citing underperformance, but indicated that the deductions would be reimbursed if targets for August were met.
With October now underway, staff report that the outstanding payments have not been disbursed, and management has not responded to calls or messages.
The situation has raised concerns about transparency and accountability within the organization, as employees seek intervention to recover their earned salaries.
“Good afternoon Cyprian. I hope you are having a good day. I kindly bring an issue to your attention and request your help on our behalf. It’s about a CBO we have been working with since the beginning of this year, Development Associates for the Young (Day Africa), which was being funded by LVCT Health. We’ve had constant issues with payment, from delayed salaries to deductions. At the end of July, they deducted at least 40% of our salaries claiming we did not perform well, but promised that if we met August targets, the deducted amount would be paid with August salaries. Unfortunately, with the recent funding challenges, our contracts were cut short to end in August. We received full pay for August but when we asked about the balance for July, they claimed they were waiting for disbursement from the NGO and told us to wait two weeks. After the two weeks, management went silent, stopped responding to our messages, and even changed group settings so only admins could post. When I reached out to the monitoring and evaluation officer, he assured me the balance would be settled before end of September, but today is 3rd October and we have received nothing. This money affects about 40 people who worked hard for their pay. Kindly help us in calling them out. Thank you.”
They are now urging stakeholders and relevant authorities to intervene, saying the silence from management has left them frustrated and financially strained.
