Casual labourers at the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company have raised concerns over persistent delays in salary payments, claiming they have gone for months without being paid.
They say this is in stark contrast to their permanently employed colleagues, who reportedly receive their wages consistently and on time.

The workers, who perform physically demanding duties, further allege discrepancies between the pay indicated on official documents and the actual amounts received.
Many of them say the situation has left them struggling, with no clear answers or relief in sight.
“Hi Nyakundi. Please ficha ID mbali. Anyway, I work at Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company at the head office as a casual labourer. Mind you, ever since April we have not been paid yet, and the funny part is that the permanent workers are always paid on time and that is every 28th of each month. My question is, why are the casuals not paid on time despite the gruesome work we do? And if we ever get paid, on paper it is indicated as 800 but in the account it’s 700. Manze Nyakundi angalia hii maneno. Mimi personally naumia just waiting on that meagre salary.”
