A former Samsung Kenya employee has come forward with a series of grave allegations, shedding light on misconduct, fraud, and manipulation of the company’s audit process.
The allegations, which involve several departments, particularly finance and sales, suggest that unethical behaviour and manipulation of company operations are widespread within Samsung Kenya.
The whistleblower, who worked as a permanent employee at Samsung Electronics for eight years, claims to have witnessed and encountered various irregularities that have compromised the integrity of the company’s financial reporting and product distribution structure.
Audit Process and Employee Frustration
According to the former employee, Samsung follows a global policy that mandates audits for all subsidiaries, with a focus on financial aspects.
These audits are meant to bring transparency and accountability in how finances are handled within the company.
Employees, especially those in finance and sales teams, often experience frustration during this period as they are subjected to intense review of their financial documentation.
“The audit period is usually a nightmare,” the former employee said.
“People panic, not because they are guilty, but because they know how the process is twisted to shield those at the top.”
The audit team evaluates financial transactions and examines supporting documents for payments and approvals prepared by respective departments.
Role of the Finance Head and Management
The whistleblower goes on to speak about Philip, the Head of Finance at Samsung Kenya, with whom they worked closely for a considerable period.
The whistleblower acknowledges Philip’s professional standing but confirms his influence in Samsung Kenya politics.
Although the whistleblower had disagreements with Philip that contributed to their eventual departure from the company, they maintain that Philip has always positioned himself with considerable influence and that many decisions within Samsung Kenya require his approval.
“Without Philip’s green light, nothing moves,” the source stated.
“Even the Country Manager treads carefully around him.”
This means that if anything was to happen within the company, he is always much aware, the fact that the whistleblower attests to.
Compromised Audit Process and Possible Corruption
The whistleblower also points to a compromised audit process within Samsung Kenya, hinting at the possibility of fraud and manipulation by certain employees, especially those who have stayed in the company for many years.
Allegedly, the audit process, meant to provide financial accountability, is being manipulated to conceal fraudulent activity.
“These audits are choreographed. The same people get protected, the same people walk away clean. It’s not by mistake,” said the source.
The whistleblower also mentions a compromised auditor who reportedly returned to South Africa last Friday, suggesting that some auditors may not be acting in the best interests of the company or its workforce but instead for the interests of the Head of Finance, the CFO, and long-serving millionaires’ sales networks within Samsung.
Whistleblower’s Call for Immigration Investigation
The whistleblower has also requested the Immigration Department to probe the issuance of work permits, particularly one issued to a white South African named Andreas.
According to sources at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Andreas is back in the country.
While the whistleblower refrains from directly accusing the Head of Finance of corruption, they suggest that his control over operations stands at 200 percent and strongly point to deliberate manipulation of the audit to protect his preferred narrative, even at the expense of other heads of departments.
“He controls narratives. He decides who is guilty and who walks. It’s not a financial process. It’s a political game,” the whistleblower added.
The whistleblower claims the situation at Samsung Kenya resembles a crime scene, given how widespread the problem is and the level of internal frustrations it has created.
According to the former employee, the toxic work environment is marked by mistrust and constant distress among staff.
“Everyone operates in fear. We don’t know who’s listening, and every move is watched,” they said.
The allegations call into question how financial transactions and product distribution are being managed within Samsung Kenya.
The whistleblower has asked government agencies, particularly the Kenya Revenue Authority, to initiate a lifestyle audit on the Head of Finance and other wealthy senior staff members at Samsung Kenya.
