Is Kenya Women Microfinance Bank (KWFT) facing operational challenges, particularly with over-the-counter withdrawals?
A recent customer complaint, shared with us under the request of anonymity, has exposed issues over the counter withdrawals, alleging that the bank is making it difficult for clients to access their money.
The situation has sparked growing concerns about the financial stability and customer service at KWFT, which has built a reputation for supporting low-income women and promoting financial inclusion, operating more than 190 branches across Kenya.

The bank is known for its pioneering group-based lending models, which have allowed many women to access loans and financial services despite not having collateral.
However, these customer complaints raise questions about whether KWFT is facing operational or financial issues, which could be affecting the services provided to its customers.
While KWFT has long been celebrated for its positive impact on women’s empowerment and financial inclusion, customers are now seeking answers regarding the recent disruptions and frustrations.
This incident has prompted calls for the management of KWFT to address the challenges but it remains to be seen whether the bank’s management will respond to these customer concerns and if the issues are part of broader operational challenges within the bank.
“Hi Nyakundi. I hope you’re well. I need to let you know what’s been happening at KWFT. These guys are really troubling us, even with basic over-the-counter withdrawals. It honestly feels like they’re playing games with clients money. This issue has been going on for a while and it’s getting frustrating. This personally happened to me at their River Road branch.”
