William Ruto Sends Fresh Attacks At Raila Odinga, Calls Him Lord Of Poverty
Newsroom Updated 2 min read
CAPTION: William Ruto speaking in Garissa today. This afternoon, Raila Odinga, while responding to William Ruto's claims that 21 billion was not lost in the Arror and Kimwarer multipurpose dam project, said that Ksh. 7 billion wasn't pocket change and that no coin should be lost to corruption.
Just moments later, William Ruto while speaking at the Pastoralist Leadership Summit in Garissa Town, hit back at the ODM leader.
Ruto asked Raila Odinga why he hasn't gone to cook mandazis in Kibera like he had promised to do if he lost the 2017 General Elections.
He also accused Raila Odinga of interfering with the Jubilee government. “They have whipped together a narrative to try and criminalise and bastardise these development initiatives. The lords of poverty, people who have benefited from keeping people in the slavery of poverty want to criminalise every development initiative. They have orchestrated and are driving a narrative that every government initiative has a corruption element in it. We are not going to win the war on corruption by exaggerating figures. I want to tell my friend who is peddling these lies that we know his scheme. He is a master of propaganda, he told his friends that he is coming to break Jubilee and I want to tell him that there is no shortage of fools. We will not allow people whose signature is keeping people in the slavery of poverty and fighting every development initiative using fake data, fake news and false information to try and scuttle the development agenda that we have set for our country.” said an extremely angry Ruto.
The Ruto vs Raila battle looks to be gaining momentum as the 2022 elections draw closer.
Although Raila hasn't personally declared his intention to seek the presidency again, his close ally and Siaya Senator James Orengo recently said that the long time Kenyan politician would be on the ballot.
