Why Political Pressure cannot save Grace Kaindi .
Newsroom Updated 2 min read
As political temperatures keep rising, The fate of Grace Kaindi hangs in the balance. Grace Kaindi who was supposed to retire in January 2018 had security of tenure and has bitterly complained that she was sacked without a letter or proper explanation .
Grace Kaindi has also argued that President Uhuru has no power to sack/ replace her leading to condemnation with institutions like CIC urging her to stay put. One guy filed a case in court but the case was dismissed raising eyebrows .How can a judge dismiss such a case yet the president bent the law to fit the whim ?
The reality is that CORD is defending Kaindi because they want to use her to gain political mileage . Former Prime minister opposed her appointment in 2012 saying it was unconstitutional . The former prime minster is now saying her sacking is unconstitutional .
Will political pressure help Kaindi ? A local political analyst that I spoke to has told me that many odds are against Kaindi. Kaindis role in the 2007 post elections violence has been a matter of speculation in the corridors of power and there is fear that it may be used against her very soon .
Yesterday, women believed to be bankrolled by Kaindi camped outside Milimani law courts condemning the dismissal of a case that was filed .
Will political pressure help her even if Uhuru has no power to sack her ?
