Why Manchester United must apologize to José Mourinho
Newsroom Updated 2 min read
Football writer Timothy Aiyeku has opined that English Premier League outfit Manchester United must tender an open apology to former manager Jose Mourinho.
United were defeated 2-0 at Old Trafford last night to make it their seventh loss in nine games under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
They have also failed to record a clean sheet in their last 12 consecutive games across all competitions.
This speaks well of the quality of defense in the team as it is the first time the club have suffered this level of embarrassment since 1971.
“Now that United are struggling to win, everyone seems to be paying attention to their defensive worries which have been hammered upon by Jose Mourinho at the start of the season,” says Aiyeku.
“He had predicted a “very difficult season” and that is now playing out.”
An effort to have it corrected failed and that apparently why he allegedly had an outburst with the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward but no one believed him despite his vast experience in the game.
However, the Portuguese boss remains a well-respected manager in the world but he was humiliated and sent away by the Red Devils team as his rift with former players was fronted alongside the negative results.
“United will be honorable enough as a team to tender an apology to the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss now that it has been confirmed that he was never wrong and the situation would have been averted if they had listened to him.”
