Wandia Njoya's Message To Kenyan "Middle-Class" After Matatu Ban Is A Must Read
Newsroom Updated 2 min read
Wandia Njoya Via Facebook To all those who drove their cars into the CBD and parked their gleaming SUVs in plain sight as pedestrians suffered, I want to tell you this: that was extremely reckless. You were lucky you got away with it. With a mass of people, frustrated with entering the CBD, all it would have taken is one person to be the child that innocently pointed out that the emperor was naked. And the people would have vented frustration on you and your cars.
You should not be middle class and th at clueless. The world doesnt revolve around you. The middle class is such a slim layer that protects the rich and carries out the dirty work of the rich. We are the accountants who help the rich steal. We are the teachers who give the rich degrees and teach their children. We are the doctors and nurses who treat the rich before they get specialized treatment abroad, on taxes that we pay. Dont be so arrogant as to think that you're safe because you went to school. You have security guards with rungus in your gated communities. The rich are guarded by armed police. So it is easier for the poor to lash out at you in Langata than at the people on Dennis Pritt road.
And more definitely, you shouldnt be so detached from the struggles of ordinary Kenyans. That detachment is a danger to you and your family. Smell the coffee and join the Lord's side. Forget what your preachers tell you about God's annointed and wealth as a blessing. God always sides with the poor. Dont be foolish like Israel and think Kenya is God's chosen nation. Dont listen to those preachers bringing stones and water from River Jordan. Israel made the same mistake of thinking they were too special for God to punish. They oppressed the poor, and God sent them to exile.
Be wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove.
