Viral Video: PSG stars Kylian Mbappé and Julian Draxler attempt to fight referee after losing 5-1 to Lille

Kylian Mbappé and Julian Draxler vented their fury at the referee after Paris Saint-Germain found themselves on the receiving end of an astonishing 5-1 thrashing away at Lille on Sunday night.

This was PSG’s worst defeat in 10 years and the fact that it saw them fluff the chance to seal the Ligue 1 title for the second weekend running made it even more sour.

Viral footage captured in the tunnel after the full-time whistle shows Julian Draxler having to be restrained by goalkeeper Alphonse Areola as he raged at the referee. “Why do we have VAR if you do not look? Explain that to me!” Draxler shouts in the video.

Meanwhile Mbappé, who had two goals disallowed for offside, was equally furious. “This referee takes the Coupe de la Ligue from us, he takes our players from us, he takes everything,” said Mbappé.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi wasn’t too happy either. “We need to raise the level of French football! We need to raise the level of French football!” he shouted.

Les Parisiens were unhappy with the decision to send Juan Bernat off for a foul on Nicolas Pépé in the first half, and also felt Mbappé’s disallowed goals should have been ruled out by VAR.
