Newsroom Updated 1 min read
This weekend, a video of a young girl identified as “Velma” swallowing pills in front of the camera went viral on social media.
According to reports, the young girl attempted suicide after she found out that her boyfriend, a student at the Co-operative University of Kenya, was cheating on her.
It is alleged that Velma who resides in Nakuru, was invited to her boyfriend's birthday at his house here in Nairobi where she spent a few days over.
During her stay, Velma decided to take it up to herself and confirm whether the rumours that her man had been cheating on her were true and on scrolling through his phone, her worst fears became a reality.
A heartbroken and frustrated Velma then left for Nakuru without informing her boyfriend.
A few days later, one of Velma's friends had a birthday party in Narok which she attended, her Ex-boyfriend was also present, together with the girl he was cheating on her with identified as Ethel.
This, according to our source, is where things escalated and Velma decided to go home and bring an end to her life.
We have been confidently informed, however, that Velma is currently alive and well and that her suicide attempt failed.
Here is the video below.
