The cyclone (there it was known as Cyclone Idai) which devastated parts of Mozambique and Zimbabwe a few weeks ago, in March, has made landfall in Tanzania.
Earlier in the day experts had warned that the strong winds will push heavy rains, that'll cause foods, into parts of Kenya.
The Kenya Meteorological Department however dismissed claims that the cyclone will hit Kenya stating that the Equator cannot experience a cyclone.
'It is FALSE that cyclone Kenneth will hit the Kenyan Coast. By the laws of physics, Cyclones cannot come this close to the equator. Landfall will be northern Mozambique as shown in the satellite image below', Kenya met department wrote on their Twitter handle. The Tanzanian government on its part had asked people residing in the South East Areas, mtwara region, to move inlands to avoid potential devastation and floods.
Poverty stricken Mozambique has not yet recovered from the devastation causes by Cyclone Idai.
The tropical storm is set to bring nearly a metre of rain and strong winds.
