[Video] Babu Owino And Justin Muturi Exchange Bitter Words In Parliament
Newsroom Updated 1 min read
Late this morning, Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino and Speaker Justin Muturi were involved in a bitter verbal exchange after Muturi rejected the legislator's request to participate in vetting nominated Education Cabinet Secretary and his former Vice-Chancellor at the University of Nairobi, Professor George Magoha.
Babu was hesitant to leave the chamber and insisted that he had a right to participate in questioning Mr. Magoha but Muturi was having any of it; saying his request was "unprocedural". Muturi finished off by telling Babu Owino that he was a "young man" that was "treading on dangerous grounds".
Many Kenyans on social media are of the opinion that the legislator should have been allowed to ask Mr. Mahoga a few questions since he knows the man very well; with the two having had some very interesting encounters during Babu's tenure at SONU.
