VIDEO — A Lesson For Kenya? Watch How Botswana's Former Chief Spy Was Arrested At The Airport Over Tax Evasion
Newsroom Updated 1 min read
On January the 16th 2019, Botswana's former Directorate of Intelligence Services (DIS), Isaac Kgosi, was apprehended on arrival at the Gaborone’s Sir Seretse Khama Airport over tax evasion.
The feared former spy chief was welcomed back from his tour in Asia and the Middle East with the arrest as his wife and children silently watched.
During his arrest, Kgosi threatened to “topple” the Botswana government for arresting him.
Mr Kgosi is a close ally of the nation's former president Ian Khama and analysts say his arrest could lead to a lot of tension between Khama and his successor Mogweti Masisi.
