Twitter Reinstates User Bravin After Malicious DMCA Takedown
Newsroom Updated 2 min read
Masters of the universe, Twitter, have reinstated twitter user Bravin after a malicious DMCA report that saw him suspended from the now deserted platform.
Many users have raised concerns about Twitter's suspension policy since it seems like one can lose their accounts based on malicious reports filed by actors that want others out of their platform.
A few weeks ago, the social media company that has seen a decline in active users reinstated another user Wanjiku Revolt after another malicious DMCA report made by government operatives determined to weed out critics off the platform.
In February, the Verge reported that Twitter’s monthly user count had fallen for three quarters in a row, so to address the issue, Twitter decided to stop announcing how many users it keeps losing.
" The change, which begins after next quarter, was announced in Twitter’s latest earnings release, where the company disclosed that it had lost another 5 million monthly users during the final few months of 2018. That brings Twitter to 321 million monthly users, down from 326 million the prior quarter. It’s Twitter’s lowest user figure in two years."
Hiding monthly user growth or losses prevents Twitter from being directly compared to many other social networks, some of which are growing far faster in their monthly user count. "
Malicious DMCA reports have become a serious issue especially in Kenya where Twitter executives started an aggressive takedown campaign targetting influencers that they saw as a competition. Even after suspending hundreds of influencers, Twitter is not getting Ad buys.
The number of sign-ups on the platform in Kenya has declined with the latest report that we shared confirming that the platform has less than 400,000 active monthly users compared to Facebook which has more than 7,000,000 active monthly users, making it a viable option for anyone that would like to buy ads.
