Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok The Turkana County Government floated some tenders for the Work Injury Benefits Act (WIBA) in which a couple of insurance firms tendered their proposals and one was selected. The drama began when Governor Josphat Nanok is alleged to have instructed a cancellation of the tender for re-advertisement. The readvertised tender scored yet another firm against Nanok's wishes and he is said to have asked for a third re-advertisement. Nanok wants Paladin Brokers to be given the deal, yet Utmost broker won. Minet won the medical category of the tenders. This is when upright people in the country sought the direction of the EACC after it emerged that the firm, Paladin Brokers, that the governor wants, has promised him a kickback or Sh50 million. A different firm Britam also promised the governor Sh20 million. WIBA is an employee benefit plan enforced by the Kenya law that guarantees employees get financial compensation when, by accident, they suffer injury, become disabled or die while at work. WIBA pays for Medical expenses, Funeral expenses, Accidental Death, Permanent Total Disablement (PTD), Temporary Total Disablement (TTD) and Occupational diseases
