Trouble For Mark Zuckerberg As Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp Go Down Worldwide
Newsroom Updated 1 min read
Users around the world are experiencing difficulty accessing social media sites Instagram and Facebook as well as encrypted messenger WhatsApp.
Those in mainland Europe seem to be the hardest hit as well as a smattering of people in the eastern United States.
Issues center around posting to the news feed, seeing stories and loading content.
Several international media outlets have approached representatives for all three companies, which are all owned by Facebook, for comment but none are yet to receive a reply.
Users began to report the issues to outage tracker Down Detector shortly before 4 p.m. EAT.
They have continued to grow ever since, as more and more users across the U.S. attempt to log on for the first time on Wednesday. Reports for Instagram alone via the site had reached 4,300 at the time of this report.
Bemused and confused users took to social media to bemoan the outage and ask if others were experiencing any difficulty getting online.
This story is developing. Please check back later for more details.
Are you experiencing outage on either of the three apps? Tell us in the comments section.
