Story · THREE EQUITY BANK EMPLOYEES CHARGED WITH 14M THEFT

Three senior employees of Equity bank, Embu branch have been charged with theft of shs. 14 million meant to be deposited in ATMs.

Appearing before Embu Judge Maxwell Gicheru, the three employees namely; David Warui, Simon Wanjohi and George Ng'ang'a were charged with stealing the money meant to be deposited in ATMs between 26th and 27th January, 2019.

The Court heard that police received a report of the theft from the bank's head of security Nthumbi Ireri after which they arrested the trio.

The Court allowed the office of the Divisional Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) to hold the suspects for 14 days as investigations into the 14M heist continues.
